I worked in plastilene for 26 years to create bronze horses as commissions, trophies, etc. Then my carpal tunnel became unmanageable and I learned to paint during the pandemic. When I saw the quality of detail Susie gets in her sculptures in air dry clay, I was so excited! My carpal tunnel was surgically repaired In May and my surgeon said I could sculpt again just days before I found Susie's ad for her books. I bought them both as well as the clay and supplies I needed and am THRILLED to be sculpting again! What a JOY to be creating in clay again, especially since no kiln or oven is needed! I'm currently making Christmas ornaments (gnomes) for an upcoming holiday craft market and to learn how to use the clay. I'm getting close to sculpting with the armature wire showing. I'll start with dogs, since I have a reputation for lifelike horses and don't want to do any of my "signature work" before I'm ready. I am so grateful For Susie's work and for her sharing her expertise.I'vealready gotten other artists interested in this clay and highly recommended Susie's books and I plan to keep doing so.
